Joint Replacement

Total joint replacement

Joint replacement, or arthroplasty, is the surgically replacement of a worn joint with an artificial prosthesis. Joint replacements can take place at any joint within the body–the knee and hip being the most common. Total joint replacements are on the rise in the United States and are a successful procedure for relieving joint pain and restoring mobility. Rehabilitative physical therapy is essential postoperative.

Partial joint replacement

While total joint replacement addresses replacing the entire joint with a prosthesis, partial replacement involves resurfacing or partially replacing a joint.
